Development: Meeting 3

We decided to have a meeting in our lesson to dicuss the progression of our production the issues raised were the fact that we need to change the location of our band shots because there is too much footage of the school walls in the background and there is lack of mise-en-scene that applies to our genre.

We are now planning to film in the school cottage which is an empty deserted room. This new setting would be good to show how disconnected our narrative is feeling and reinforce the fact that she needs to be helped inorder to get herself back on track. As the band will be quite emotionally attatched to the words in the lyrics.

Development: Anclillary task logo for band

I decided to come with finding a logo for the band. Due to fact that out song is 'Emergency' I thought to stick with the conventions of the colour associated with the word emergency which is red to create a link. I researched on google red flowers but didn't really like any of them. Then I began looking at existing digipak front covers and found a previous Paramore digipak cover that had a yellow butterfly on it.

This helped me to come up with the idea of creating my simplistic digipak cover. instead using a red butterfly that would promote the idea of Emergency. I found one red butterfly that I really liked and decided to upload it onto photoshop, editing out all of the others colours in the background and applying effects onto the image on Photoshop cs6.

Development: Ancillary task @ beginning stages

These are a few of the screenshots to show the progress of my ancillary tasks. I began with the font from fontspace.com which had alot of white in the font once I placed it on my coloured background. However, I made significant changes by placing the font with the white in the font on a new photoshop page and used the quick selection tool to clear out all of the colour within the font to leave the outline. In which I then used the paint bucket tool to fill out the font.

Development: Meeting 2

London filming!

From our shoot in London, we have come to a conclusion that we need to re-group to discuss a new narrative for our music video. The narrative that we came up for the second time was simply too boring and simplistic so we have decided to still use the elements of the icronography of London but we are going to include more shots that will help develeop the narrative the progress that she makes from the beginning of the music video till the end. This conclusion arised as when we looked over our footage and began to make rough cuts, it was apparent that there was no mise-en-scene that clearly identified our target audience. However, we felt that the camera work and shots we did produce was good.

Planning & Development: Representation

Representation relates to the representation of reality in the media. When we study reppresentations are constructed, why they are constructed that way and how audiences recieve and consume them. This idea I will incorporate in my own work and I will relate to this description whilst thinking of how to represent my narrative as well as my band. I need the audience to be able to understand what I want them to understand and gain from my music video. After all we can only judge by the representation we are given by the media.

There are different types of representations; genre, audience, institution, ideology and stereotypes. All of these will be releveant in my music video but the most important will be genre and audience because I need to make sure that I attract my desired audience and the genre will steer me in the direction if i study it well.
